Victrola, a record player company based out of Denver, celebrated its ribbon cutting ceremony on April 5. The new 103,000 square foot warehouse in Commerce City serves as Victrola’s first owned and operated distribution center. Victrola specializes in selling record players, turntables, speakers, and vinyl records with a long history dating back to 1905.
Holiday Inn Express & Suites hosted its groundbreaking ceremony last fall on the intersection of 96th Avenue and Tower Road. This development will bring an additional 93 rooms to the city providing a lodging option near FlyDen for our residents, visitors to our community, and local businesses to use when it opens later in 2024. This hotel will be a catalyst for economic development and will spur additional investment along the entire Tower Road corridor.
Woodsprings Hotel has started construction on Commerce City’s first hotel in the Mile High Greyhound Park neighborhood. The project is a collaboration and partnership with the Urban Renewal Authority, TGC Development Group and Delwest. The hotel will have 122 rooms and hopes to open by summer 2024.
Volunteers of America is a nonprofit organization founded in 1896 that provides affordable housing and other assistance services primarily to low-income people throughout the United States. They recently celebrated their new location at 4915 E. 52nd Avenue and have 60 employees. This location serves as their Aging and Nutrition Services center.
Midwest Hose recently located into 33,664 square feet at 11089 Havana Street in the Colorado Logistics Park. The company’s distribution center was relocated to the Colorado Logistics Park to take advantage of the Park’s state-of-the-art building attributes.
Würth Industry North America (WINA) announced plans to relocate two of the company’s divisions, Würth MRO and Würth Revcar Fasteners Industrial, to a new 82,744 square-foot facility in the Colorado Logistics Park. The project brings $3 million in new capital investment and retains 70 employees. WINA is a billion[1]dollar division of the Würth Group, the world's largest industrial distributor, headquartered in Künzelsau, Germany. The joint effort allows the divisions to offer a more extensive product range to shared customers. The company expects to occupy the new facility in Q4 2023.
Pinnacle Steel expanded its existing operations in the Mountain View Industrial Park by adding an additional 32,535 square feet. The $4.75 million expansion allowed the steel fabricator for power substations to grow from 15 employees to 40 over the next 10 years.
Highland Cabinetry has opened its new 94,621 square feet at 8251 Quintero Street, Suite 100 in the Nexus business park. They are a warehouse/logistics center for cabinets that are manufactured in Vietnam and have 42 employees in Commerce City.
Thrasher Foundation Repair opened their first Colorado operation at 9652 Hanover Court West here in Commerce City. Thrasher provides foundation repair services, basement waterproofing and drainage and gutter installation.
84 Lumber opened its newest facility in 81,592 square feet in Building 3 at Park 76 located along 108th Avenue. They are a manufacturer of doors and windows, as well as warehousing product at this site.
Farm and Spirit/Anders Beverage dba Black Forest Distilling has started manufacturing of their product in Commerce City. The business owner, which makes small batch vodka, bourbon, gin and whisky, intends to open a tasting room in the future.
Lowe’s Home Improvement has occupied a 1 million square foot distribution facility in the Nexus at DIA business park at E. 84th Avenue and Tower Road. They have 115 employees at their Commerce City facility.
Amazon located a new 278,394 square foot distribution facility within the Nexus at DIA business park at E. 84th Avenue and Tower Road. The project brings 300 new full-time and 600 seasonal jobs to Commerce City.
Aspen Insurance purchased the former Valley Bank & Trust building on E. 72nd Avenue and Olive in July. Aspen Insurance is an independently-owned insurance group that also provides a variety of tax and business consulting services. The business moved from a location in Derby and has two other locations: Dillon, CO and El Paso, TX.
Border States Electric has leased 81,999 square-feet in Building D of the Colorado Logistics Park at the SEC 112th Avenue and Hwy 85. The wholesale electrical supplies company employs 65 people at it’s Commerce City facility.
Rocky Mountain Fine Wines signed a 5,000 square foot lease at 6185 E 56th Avenue.
Denver Commercial Property Services moved its corporate headquarter operations to a 15,000 square-foot building at 6245 Clermont Street in February 2020.
TJ Maxx leased 94,621 square feet of distribution space in a multi-tenant industrial building at 8251 Quintero Street in the Nexus at DIA Business Park.
Bobcat of the Rockies recently completed the construction of a new 31,596 square-foot headquarters and industrial equipment dealership at 10397 Havana Street. The company’s existing facility at 7000 E. 56th Avenue will operate as a new concrete business division.
Terex Services
Terex Services has established operations at 6295 E. 56th Ave. in Commerce City. The company repairs, refurbishes, inspects and installs heavy equipment, specializing in maintenance of Terex and Genie machines, and virtually any hydraulic, electric, hybrid and truck equipment. The company moved their team of five (5) into the new facility and plan to create an additional 6-7 jobs in the near future, more than doubling the size of their technician team.
Colorado Analytical Laboratories, Inc.
The company opened on a new state-of-the-art laboratory at 10411 Heinz Way in the Mountain View Industrial Park area. The nearly $3 million, 12,500 square foot laboratory employs 32 people. The company provides business-to-business services and conducts analyses of drinking water, wastewater, soil, and biosolids for land applications. Colorado Analytical Laboratory is certified by the Colorado Department of Health and Environment to analyze drinking water for organic and inorganic contaminants, nitrate and nitrite, cyanide, fluoride and coliform bacteria. The family-owned company prides itself on its support to long-term employees and delivering accurate and timely analytical results to its clients.
Crystal Packaging, Inc.
Established in 1977, Crystal Packaging relocated to Commerce City. Established as a company that provided blended products to the airline industry, the company has grown to expand their products to a range of industries, while maintaining customer focus. Now operating as a specialty chemical and petroleum contract packager and private label manufacturer, the company moved into a 70,000-square-foot facility on 7 acres at 9155 Boston Street. Included with the site acquisition was the purchase of an existing business which will continue to operate on the site as a co-tenant. The move brought 48 new jobs to Commerce City.
Diversified Body & Paint Shop
The family-owned and operated business specializing in custom repair and refinishing work for large vehicles moved to Commerce City. Diversified Body & Paint Shop built a new 50,000 square-foot facility on a 10-acre site at 9551 Willow Street. The company provides a one-stop shop with full service body, paint, and frame, alignment and suspension services for everything from commercial trucks and heavy equipment to recreational and emergency vehicles .
Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc.
(ODFL) renovated and expanded its Commerce City Service Center at 5601 Holly Street. Old Dominion is a less-than-truckload (LTL) motor carrier providing regional, inter-regional and national LTL service and value-added logistics services. Headquartered in Thomasville, North Carolina, the company owns 40 acres in Commerce City and employs more than 365 people with facilities that include 213 loading doors.
Lineage Logistics
As the population of metro Denver increases, so does the need for distribution and warehouse space. One of the companies working to meet that need is Lineage Logistics, a cold storage warehousing and logistics company. Lineage Logistics added nearly 116,000 square feet to its existing 430,000-plus square-foot operation already in the Irondale neighborhood. This project brought an estimated $12.5 million in new capital investment to the city and adds 25 jobs to the company's current workforce of 90 employees.
The Glove Wagon
The owner of Glove Wagon, a gloves and safety supplies wholesaler, built a 16,000-square-foot facility at E. 96th Avenue and Havana Street. The company shares the building with another small HVAC manufacturer--Innovative Mechanical Solutions.
Innovative Mechanical Solutions
Formed in January 2013 as a break away company when the owners of Innovative Mechanical Systems retired, Sherri and Tom Paiz are growing Innovative Mechanical Solutions into a full scale HVAC design build company.
Haier / GE Appliances
Becknell Industrial’s build-to-suit for GE/Haier Appliance was built on the 38.8-acre site Becknell Industrial previously acquired in April of 2018. The company built a 540,800-square-foot industrial facility on the site, bringing more jobs and capital investment to the growing Tower Road corridor. Haier US Appliance Solutions, a Chinese company that recently bought GE Appliances, leased a 351,520-square-foot space in the building.
A.R. Wilfley & Sons, Inc.
This family-owned company, which manufactures centrifugal and other pumps, moved its headquarters and manufacturing operations to a 120,000 square-foot industrial facility in the Stapleton Business Center in Commerce City. The company brought 90 new jobs and over $6 million in new capital investment to the city.
George T. Sanders Company
The plumbing and heating products supplier built a new 76,000 square-foot distribution facility in the Marty Farms Industrial Center - south of E. 96th Avenue on E. 95th Place and Yosemite in Commerce City. The George T. Sanders Company is one of the largest suppliers of plumbing and heating suppliers to mechanical and plumbing contractors in Colorado. The new facility will bring up to 30 full time employees over the next three years to the city.
Intsel Steel West
The family-owned steel company purchased 55 acres of industrial land and built a 234,000 square-foot industrial facility in Irondale. The new building represents a consolidation and growth of the company’s existing operations in Denver and Commerce City and includes a new rail spur from the BNSF line on the east side of the property. The parent company, Triple-S Steel Supply, is based in Houston, Tex. and sells nearly 500,000 tons of steel per year for bridges, stadiums, barges, and large buildings throughout North America, Central and South America and Asia. The Commerce City operations is a subsidiary called Intsel Steel West and employs nearly 70 people.
McLane FoodService
McLane Foodservice is one of the leading wholesale suppliers to grocery retailers and restaurants and operates 18 regional distribution centers in 16 states with a fleet of 1,900+ truck tractors and trailers. The company built a new 250,000-square-foot refrigerated distribution facility in the Nexus at DIA Business Park. Commerce City facility primarily serves McLane’s chain restaurant customers in the region and employs 345 people. The project brings over $30 million in new capital investment to the city.
